Painter Harland Izatt made his living teaching visual art. However in his retirement, inspired by his wife, writer Lise Levesque, he began writing novels. His first, Soft Targets, is set in Bali against the backdrop of the Bali bombings of 2002. Since then he has written three more novels, each told around a real-life news event. Izatt writes under the pen name Harland John. Pull up a chair and learn more about how to turn the news into art.
